We’re supporting creatives like you to connect with who and what you need. We’re gonna feature local talent needing some know-how to get them to the next level. Let’s look out for each other. Keep dropping in to see who can help you.
We’ll be talking to a new creative every week. This week we’re chatting with Emily, a small business owner & Coventry University Graduate. If you wanna work with Racheal, or get involved with a project drop them a message @emjohnsonart07.
So, tell us about yourself
I’m Emily-Jane Johnson. I’m 25 years old and from Coventry. I studied Fine Art at Coventry University. In school I wasn’t very academic and was told by a teacher I’d never make it to uni but I’m really proud I overcame it and now I run a small fine arts business and work as a store manager at an opticians.
What is something you think Coventry needs?
In my opinion, Coventry needs more networking and exposure. It’s supposed to be the city of culture but I know loads of amazing artists in the city and none of them have been approached for any opportunities in the city.
What can the community do for you?
I’m currently just building up my client base as there’s no infrastructure in place to help you to start a business after leaving uni. I am looking for brand ambassadors and maybe social media managers to help build my page.
What can you do for the community?
I would love to teach people art, as I help share ideas sometimes with the Saturday Arts Club in the city. Maybe do some consulting for arts clubs and youth clubs around arts.
