Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Hi, my name is Jerome, and I’m 29 years old from Wolverhampton. I have a passion for art and always loved drawing growing up. I currently work as a fitness instructor, and I’m absolutely in love with Basketball, and have been playing with Slam Basketball for 10 years.
What type of art inspires you to draw?
To be honest, I find inspiration from all sorts of places! I like to get out in nature, and go for walks, and find that when I come back, I’m always hungry to draw and paint. What truly inspired me though, is a local street artist that goes by the name of “Skore”. They use references to pop culture to highlight some of the issues affecting our society, which I find quite admirable.
What opportunities did you miss whilst growing up in Wolverhampton?
While I was growing up in Wolverhampton, I never saw any way to develop my craft. Nowadays, I’m aware that there is advertising for art classes, but it’s a thing you have to deep dive to find. Any creative institute should be actively proposed by the government and schools to ensure that artists have a clear path into the industry.
