We’ll be talking to a new creative every week. This week we’re chatting with Lorelle, a Uni Student & part time fashion influencer based in Coventry. If you wanna work with Lorelle, or get involved with a project drop her a DM @_misslorellecampbell_.
Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
My name is Lorelle, I am 18. I am a first year student at Coventry University studying architecture. I style myself as a side hustle.
How were you missed in 2020?
When I was starting university I had face to face classes for the first teaching period. However, classes were taught online during the second teaching period. It was weird not having sat exams at the end of my IB course. Instead of marked exams I did coursework, and mock exams. However, I actually preferred this, I tend to avoid exams as I can be an overthinker.
How else were you missed, for example, socially?
I really missed out on socialising; going out and making memories with my friends. We usually go thrift shopping or to the park or to restaurants but because of the lockdown we haven’t been able to.
I also missed out on societies: ACS (African&Caribbean society), Pole, Netball, and Taekwondo. These are all societies I am interested in and tried out for but because of Covid I couldn’t enjoy them for long before they shut down.
Also, Coventry University ACS didn’t do anything in terms of events during lockdown, but the ACS of Westminster, Leicester, and Nottingham University have had events. These have been on zoom or Microsoft teams but it made me feel like I was missing out more since other universities were still having online events.
What could Coventry do to assist you in your creative endeavours?
More thrift stores. In Coventry there’s only the standard New Look, H&M, etc. This is nice and all but thrift stores have the odd bits and rare gems that commercial stores don’t have.
Also, more aesthetically pleasing spots for taking pictures and shoots. For photoshoots I go to car parks and parks. As Coventry is very city based, there’s not a lot of spots for picture taking. I’d like it if there were woods in Coventry because where I live in London, there’s woods nearby where I can take good content pictures.
