Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Hi, my name is Racheal Adebayo, and I’m 20 years old in my last year of college and heading to University in September to study photography.
Do you have any hobbies outside of photography?
I used to love singing and creating music in my spare time, and I’d like to dive back into it as I used to be in three different choirs back in high school. I would also like to write a song, as I’ve only created song covers before.
Photography student Racheal believes colleges could do more to help young people.
What could Sandwell do to help with photography and singing opportunities?
I believe colleges could set up more training classes, as for singing there’s not much out there. I feel that in high school, there were more ways to be involved with singing after school, and it would be nice to have a similar platform to share our music, gain insights and give feedback to others in college.
As for photography, the college does sometimes offer opportunities and such, but they often don’t fall into place. A lot of the time, I take pictures for free, even outside of college when I’m attending church and other family events. A small paid opportunity would be quite beneficial for me and would go a long way toward securing a job in the future.
