CBBC Live

Last weekend we had great fun delivering the “School of Rap” workshops with CBBC Live, promoting literacy through rap at the Awesome Awethors weekend in Birmingham’s Centenary Square. We have finally recovered from engaging 7000 young people this July, in a weekend packed full of mind-nourishing, sensory-stimulating creativity.

At the two-day event, we delivered the 4 O’clock Club’s workshops, which ran throughout the day. Children of all ages learned to write their own rap tunes, taking inspiration from books such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and more. The children developed their rhyming skills/word-play, reflective thinking and cooperative skills and experienced the rush of finishing a creative activity.

What the BBC said:

The BBC Learning Executive producer offered “a massive personal thanks for … delivering such an entertaining and inspiring workshop.

“For me it was one of the highlights of the whole event.

“Your whole team were great – lovely to work with from our point of view and fantastic with the kids.”
